"No-excuse early voting-by-mail" became a permanent voting option for everyone in Massachusetts after the pandemic.  It works well!   You do have to sign-up once a year, so even if you signed up last year don't forget to sign up again for this year.

You can sign up to get ballots and return materials sent to you for state elections, primaries, presidential primaries and our local elections.

This year the Secretary of the Commonwealth has provided an online form that will sign you up to receive "Vote By Mail" ballots for all elections in 2023.   You can still download a paper sign-up form if you prefer.

After you enter some info to validate your voting registration, you'll be faced with this short sign-up form:

Can't get much easier than that!

That form, and lots of other info on the program, is on the Secretary of the Commonwealth site here:

The State Secretary recommends that you sign up for early-voting-by-mail at least 2-3 weeks before election day.   Town elections are on May 8th this year.

"Apply as early as possible, especially if your ballot will need to be mailed out of town. The U.S. Postal Service recommends allowing up to 7 days for mail delivery. To ensure you receive your ballot with enough time to mail it back, you should apply 2-3 weeks before Election Day."

The state's "Track My Ballot" tool will let you see if a ballot has been mailed to you.   After you pop it back in mail, it will tell you when it's been received and accepted.
