Steve Kerrigan claims Heather Lennon "resigned" to him a full day before he actually spoke to her, according to "resignation" dated and stamped in on 8/8

According to the "resignation" filed by Steve Kerrigan, Heather Lennon resigned to him a full day before he even spoke to her.   The date on his memo, the stamp and his notation say that he spoke to Heather Lennon a full day before he actually did.

After Select Board Chair Steve Kerrigan began to get pushback on his claim that Heather Lennon isused a verbal resignation to him that was official and irrevocable (state law madates a written resignation to the Town Clerk) Kerrigan produced a "resignation" that he filed on her behalf.  He has yet to explain what led him to believe he had the authority to file a resignation for Heather.

Upon a quick inspection, even the paperwork Kerrigan "filed" doesn't seem to add up -- see a copy below.  It indicates that he spoke with Heather Lennon on 8/8 -- he didn't speak with her until 8/9.

He might make the case this was a series of typos, but for that the notations at the bottom that carefully differentiate between individuals copied on 8/8 and 8/9.

  • The memo is dated "August 8, 2023"
  • The memo is stamped "RECEIVED AUG 8 2023 Board of Selectmen"
  • The notations at the bottom carefully indicate that it was cc'd 8/8 to Kate Hodges and then 8/9 to to the Town Clerk and Kathi Rocco.
  • The memo was stamped in on "AUG 09 2023" by the clerk.

I asked Heather Lennon if she had phone records to show when she spoke to Steve Kerrigan: she was happy to provide it and gave me permission to share it.  Two images from her call logs are included below Steve Kerrigan's memo.

Steve Kerrigan did send a message to Heather on August 8th -- but declined to speak that afternoon and was not available for a call until August 9th.    On August 9th, they spoke from 2:47PM to 3:00PM.

The clerks office closed at 4PM on August 8th and August 9th.
